Beautiful tapestries at Goblins Manufacture

Today I went to see the exhibition presented at the Manufacture nationale des Gobelins (Gobelin Manufactory) and I really enjoyed it.

Manufacture nationale des Gobelins, is a tapestry factory located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. It was built 400 centuries ago, spurred on by Henri IV of France and it's still in activity. Nowadays, the Manufacture nationale des Gobelins employs 30 agents, working on 15 looms. The pieces they create are for the premises of the French Administration.

Each year, the Manufacture nationale des Gobelins organises a temporary exhibition about these pieces of art. And precisely, the current exhibition is about masterpieces created over the last century. It's a very interesting way of looking back at the period starting from 1918, in an artistic, sociological, political and technical terms.

I have to say that I actually liked almost every tapestry. The selection is amazing: Lurçat Matisse, Picasso, Mirò, Le Corbusier, Delaunay, Dufy, Derain and many other big names. And it's also a nice way to learn more about the French culture and know-how.

My piece of advice: don't miss the video presenting the huge tapestry about Petain and the one presenting the work of loom setter. Very interesting.
