At the end of each day, I try to take a few minutes to think about what I can be grateful for. And today, without any doubt, I feel blessed to have visited the Azzedine Alaïa installation set up by with the help of Olivier Saillard, former General Manager of Palais Galliera, who had curated another exhibition dedicated to late Azzedine Alaïa, who sadly passed away last November.
So, just after work, I rushed to the Marais and I managed to get there in time to enjoy the installation in the best conditions ever; we were only two visitors! Altogether 41 pieces of work of the talent couturier are presented. There are mostly iconic dresses. And mainly black dresses. So sculptural! So sexy! So showing off women's curves. There are different materials: I loved the pieces with leather. Actually, when I think Alaïa, I obviously thing "leather". And the bustier dresses, showing off cleavages are everything!
When it came to clothing, Azzedine Alaïa would say: "I like when they are beautiful and timeless, not cluttered with details, ornaments, and colors that prematurely age them. The simplest are the most difficult to create!".
I absolutely loved walking amongst these beauties. I really felt blessed to have the whole place to myself!
Nb: it might be more crowded during the week-end.
