Each year, the city of Paris organises a competition to nominate the best Baguette in Paris.
The winner wins a prize of 4,000 euros and becomes the official supplier for the Elysée Palace, the residence of the French President, for one year. In 2017, the winner of the contest was the bakery Brun, 193 rue de Tolbiac, 75013 Paris.
If you stay in the Center of Paris and you don't want to go down to the 13th arrondissement to taste a good Baguette, I would recommend my favorite bakery, in the Marais: Boulangerie Saint-Antoine, located 29 rue Saint-Antoine, 75004 Paris.
Their Baguette named "Craquante" is just yummy and irresistible. The crumb is so good. And as it's a best seller, they bake them several times a day. So if you are lucky, you will get a hot Craquante just out of the even. A real treat!
Nb: when ordering your bread, do ask for a "Craquante" and not for a Baguette.
Nb2: there are several boulangeries rue Saint-Antoine. Be careful to go the one at number 29.
