Huge Barbie Exhibition

Few years ago, I had the chance to see an exhibition devoted to Barbie at Musée de la Poupée (the Paris Doll museum). It was great but it had nothing to do with the current Barbie exhibition featured at Musée des Arts Décoratifs which is massive.

The exhibition is absolutly huge. It shows hundreds of Barbie dolls, from its launch, in 1959, by Ruth Handler until nowadays.

I very much enjoyed the fashion show display and the Barbies wearing designers' clothes. It was fun trying to find out which designer the dolls were wearing. I also liked the window featuring the different jobs Barbie had: Barbie dentist, Barbie nurse...

A great installation to be seen with the kids but not only...

Musée picasso

I had such a great time this afternoon. I went to see the exhibition "Sculpture" at the Picasso Museum and I just loved it. The museum (Hôtel de Salé, one of the most beautiful mansions of Paris) is just in itself worth the visit.

I didn't get the chance to see the museum since it last re-opened after a long period of works (5 years). And honestly, the works were very much worth it. The museum is much bigger and convenient now. It's so obvious that Hotel de Salé is such an amazing building. There is even a coffe shop on the roof top where it's very pleasant to rest for a coffee espacially when it's sunny. The garden, behind the museum, is open to the visitors too.

Until August 28th, the museum presents an international exhibition dedicated to sculptures. The idea is to contemplate Picasso's sculptures from different angles. The exhibition features over 240 pieces. I very much liked the serie of six glasses of absinthe (from 1914); it's shown for the first time in Europe in its entirety.

I very warmy recommend  this exhibition

Iris Apfel au Bon Marché

I had so much fun today seeing the tribute paid to the amazing nonagenarian it girl Iris Apfel at the Bon Marché Rive Gauche.

The installation named "Iris in Paris" features ten different figures created by Iris Apfel from her own collection. She made up ten moments of her in Paris (at a café, on a bateau-mouche, in a diner...) and for each moment she pictured a look. As you may imagine, each and every look is very colourful and features a lot of the large jewels that Iris Apfel loves.

I had a great time and I wish to thank Iris Apfel for her imagination and personality. She is so inspiring. Thank you Iris. Love you.
