Musee Carnavalet Exposition Napoléon

©Esther à Paris

Yesterday, upon the current exhibition about Napoleon, Musée Carnavalet (the museum of history of the city of Paris) organized a reconstruction of a civilian day, at the time of the Napoleonic Empire.

It was fun seeing all these people dressed in First French Empire's clothes. In fact, I am a huge fan of the "robe Empire", an iconic white gown.

During this special day, we had the opportunity to attend the Emperor and Empress's ball in "salon Bouvier" (Bouvier lounge) during which demonstrations of the First French Empire's dances were setp up. It was amazing. We were told that Napoleon didn't like dancing. Apparently, his dances were the most boring of all Europe; his guests started to have fun only once he had left.

Later on in the afternoon, I visited the exhibition about Napoleon. As it's very rich, I would recommend to see it with a guide. It was fun to see Napoleon and his court walking around ;-)

Here are some pictures of this great day.

16 rue des Francs-Bourgeois - 75003 Paris. From 10am to 6pm. Closed on Mondays.

La case de cousin Paul

©Esther à Paris

Today, I went to the BHV department store to search for a colourful lampshade to install in my daughter's bedroom.

After looking around if I could find something cool but yet not too eccentric, I came accross some lovely fancy lights in the shape of balls. There was a large selection of nice colours. Exactly what I needed. When I found out that they were handmade, I decided I was exactly what I needed.

I chose one in old pink, in the shape of a cupola.

Thank you "La case de cousin Paul" !

At the BHV - 52 rue de Rivoli - 75004 Paris or online at www.lacasedecousinpaul.com

Kure Bazaar ❤

©Esther à Paris

Last Saturday, during my shopping spree, I bought 3 lovely nail polishes from my favorite brand Kure Bazaar

I chose: Stiletto, as I wanted an elegant red; Phenomenal, which is a violet with soft grey undertones and Beige Milk a perfect nude. These colours are not new but I didn't have them and I really fell in love when I saw them.

To show them to you, I chose my dearest place des Vosges and Hôtel de Sully. There can't be any better case !

Pascal Colrat

©Esther à Paris

Strolling accross the Marais, last Sunday, I came accross  an art gallery I had never heard of before: Passage de Retz. The gallery is housed in a beautiful 17th century mansion named "Hôtel de Retz".

Right now, the gallery is hosting an exhibition named "6 months of dreams and drawings - 100 works on paper by Pascal Colrat". Pascal Colrat is a pluralist artist:  photographer but also poster designer. This exhibiton shows 100 of his black and white drawings, some of which are very cute and funny and some very moving.

I really had a great time.

Free exhibition - Until June 7th, 2015
9 rue Charlot - 75003 Paris
