Les arènes de Lutèce

©Esther à Paris

Yesterday, I took little Jude and headed off to the "Amphitheatre of Lutèce" (Lutece is the former name of Paris), in the Latin quarter. Believe it or not, before last week, I totally ignored that there were an amphitheatre in Paris.

The place is just amazing. It's been classified as a listed building. The amphitheatre was built between the 1st and the 2nd centuries and could fit 15.000 people. Nowadays, people play football or pétanque. Very different from the gallo roman games isn't it ?

The access is free and it's open every day.
