Today, as I was going through Châtelet, on my way to the Tuileries gardens, I came across the "Carnaval des Femmes" (women's carnaval). This Carnival parade takes place every year, on the Sunday following the Thursday of the Mid-Lent. It dates back to the 19th century. At the time, the laundresses were the heroines and organizers of the event. They elected their queen and paraded along the boulevards.
The "Carnaval des Femmes" is back in Paris since 2009. Men are welcome to participate. They are invited to dress as women.
It was very colorful and lively. Everyone had a smile. Here are some pictures.
